The DISCOVER consortium met in Lisbon, Portugal, from 7 to 8 July 2026 for its 2nd General Assembly Meeting. Representatives from all 14 partner organisations came together to review the progress achieved over the past year, discuss ongoing technical developments, and coordinate the next steps towards achieving the project’s ambition of transforming the deconstruction and construction industry through innovative digital technologies.

Over the two-day meeting, partners presented updates on the progress of the project’s work packages, assessed technical achievements, and discussed the activities planned for the coming months.  One of the highlights of the meeting was the visit to the 1st demonstration site building in the centre of Lisbon. Many of the project partners had the opportunity to visit the building, where the project’s technologies and solutions will be demonstrated and validated under real operating conditions. The visit offered valuable insight into the characteristics of the demonstration site, allowing partners to discuss implementation strategies, evaluate technical requirements, and connect ongoing research activities with their practical application.

During the meeting, the consortium also reviewed recent achievements across the project, including progress in robotics development, digital tools, data management  and the preparation of demonstration activities. Partners exchanged knowledge on current challenges, shared lessons learned, and identified opportunities to further enhance collaboration and maximise the impact of the project’s results.

The discussions also focused on the upcoming project milestones, dissemination and communication activities, collaboration with other European initiatives, and strategies to ensure that the solutions developed within DISCOVER deliver long-term value.

Following two productive days of technical discussions, collaborative planning, and knowledge exchange, the consortium leaves Lisbon with a clear roadmap for the next phase of the project and a renewed commitment to delivering innovative, sustainable, and circular solutions for the European construction industry.

A special thank you goes to Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Portugal, for hosting the 2nd General Assembly and for their excellent organisation and warm hospitality, which contributed to the success of the meeting.
