Our partner C5Lab presented DISCOVER at the Sustainable Built Environment WestMED Conference 2025 in Seville, during an industry roundtable focused on the transition towards a net-zero built environment.
Melissa Bacatelo, researcher at C5LAB contributed to the discussion by highlighting the importance of research, design, digitalisation, and cross-sector collaboration in addressing the climate challenges of the construction sector.
During the roundtable, the DISCOVER project was presented as an example of how digital technologies and circular design approaches can support new ways of building, deconstructing, recovering, and reusing materials. By combining innovation with circular economy principles, DISCOVER contributes to the development of more sustainable and resource-efficient practices across the construction value chain.
The discussion also addressed broader decarbonisation pathways for the cement and construction sectors, underlining the need for collaborative solutions that bring together research organisations, industry, designers, and technology providers.
The event reinforced the importance of collaboration and shared purpose in accelerating sustainable transformation in construction.
