Institut Mines-Télécom (IMT) presented the DISCOVER Horizon Europe project during the Annual Conference on Critical Approaches and Methodological Issues in Social Science Research, organised by the Department of Sociology of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Crete.

The presentation was delivered by postdoctoral researcher Angeliki Drohgiti, who shared insights into DISCOVER’s objectives, methodological framework, and the challenges connected with applying a sociological perspective to the end-of-life of buildings.

The presentation highlighted the importance of understanding not only the technical aspects of sustainable deconstruction, material recovery, and reuse, but also the social, methodological, and behavioural dimensions that influence how circular practices are adopted in the construction sector.

The event brought together researchers and academics to exchange ideas and critically reflect on contemporary approaches in social science research. IMT’s participation provided an opportunity to present DISCOVER to a broader academic audience and to receive valuable feedback on the project’s interdisciplinary approach.

Through this contribution, DISCOVER further strengthened its dialogue with the social sciences, underlining the role of interdisciplinary research in supporting the transition towards a more circular and sustainable built environment.
