As part of the Inter-American Cement Federation – FICEM Cemento Mission to Portugal, C5Lab welcomed a delegation for a technical visit dedicated to research, innovation, decarbonisation, and circularity in the cement sector.

During the visit, C5Lab presented its ongoing work in key areas such as carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), as well as the development of more sustainable cementitious materials. Within this context, the DISCOVER Horizon Europe project was highlighted as an example of how digitalisation and circular design can support the transformation of the construction value chain.

DISCOVER focuses on new ways to build, deconstruct, recover, and reuse materials, contributing to a more circular and low-carbon built environment. By combining digital tools, sustainability assessment, and circular economy principles, the project supports the transition towards more resource-efficient construction practices.

The initiative underlined the importance of international cooperation and the exchange of scientific and technological knowledge.
